Association of International Dance Teachers

Sheree is a member of the Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT)

The AIDT is an examining body and non-profit-making association, whose aim is to promote the teaching and standard of Modern and Tap Dance. A comprehensive syllabus enables students from the age of 3-5 years and upward to learn the correct technique, develop discipline, and musicality while enjoying the dancing experience. Careful attention is given to anatomy, as used in dance, to avoid injury through incorrect use.

Modern

A.I.D.T Modern dance is a combination of styles: Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Physical Theatre and Street Jazz. Each grade is based on two or more styles, so the students develop an awareness and aptitude for all. Danspirations offers exams, medal tests and evaluations on an annual basis given by an international examiner, typically held in June. Students are encouraged to participate in order to increase their standard of dance, and benefit by performance experience and reaching a new goals every year.

Ballet

Creative Dance - Primary Ballet (Ages 3 – 7 years)

Preparatory for classical ballet technique, these classes are designed to develop coordination, balance, strength, rhythm, correct posture, and creativity. They consist of organized exercises in repetition: floor movements and patterns, specific dance steps, and creative expression. Minimal ballet exercises are given with great care, along with others that are less demanding, yet highly beneficial in preparing for classical ballet.

Classical Ballet (Ages 8 - 18 years)

Classical ballet provides the foundation for all other dance forms. It is the most demanding, most disciplined of all dance forms, but also the most rewarding. With a solid ballet foundation, classically trained dancers can transfer their skills into jazz, modern dance, or any other dance form they might decide to pursue.  Accomplishing that solid ballet foundation is crucial to becoming an outstanding dancer in any dance form. Ballet students will improve strength, flexibility, grace and overall coordination. Ballet structure in unsurpassed in training dancers, but inevitable by-products of this training are better posture, a more trim body, and increased ease in everyday movements. Exposure to beautiful classical music is a plus.
